Why should you pay attention to the underlayer when buying a laminate?

Every customer who buys a laminate or parquet board does not care what material the underlayer is made of. This is due to the fact that when buying a laminate or parquet board, you are offered cheap rolls of polyethylene underlayer for free. In some homes this can be a serious problem, others unknowingly consider it normal. To overcome this stereotype, we would like to tell you about the most common laminate underlayers in Azerbaijan.

Polyethylene underlayers are the most common type of laminate underlayer in Azerbaijan. It comes in the form of a roll. Their thickness is 2 or 3 mm. The advantage is that it is cheap. In this regard, this type of underlayers is given as a gift when buying a laminate or parquet board. However, such underlayers lose quality and flatten after 6-8 months. In this case, floor locks are damaged and gaps are formed, in addition, such underlayers have neither sound insulation nor thermal insulation. When applied under underfloor heating, it causes condensation (water droplets) to form on the concrete. This, in turn, leads to deterioration of the floor and an unpleasant smell in the room.

Extruded polystyrene underlayers -  are a new kind of laminate underlayers on the market. The most widely used in Russia and the CIS countries. The disadvantage is that it is more expensive than a traditional underlayer. But there are many benefits too. Such underlayers also keep moisture out. They have sound and heat insulation. And this completely refutes the constantly heard expression "cold laminate". In addition, such underlayers do not lose their qualities for a long time and do not allow the laminate to break, protecting the locks. There are also specially perforated types of underfloor heating that can be easily installed under your warm floor. Since these underlayers cover the curves of the floor, they can be laid on concrete without wooden plank.

Cork underlayer  - these so-called "cork" underlayers are very reliable. They are mainly ordered by Russian companies at Portuguese and Italian factories and brought to Baku. They maintain quality for a long time. They have very strong sound and heat insulation. The disadvantage is that they are expensive and not waterproof.
